Treatments
Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is a practice dedicated to the restoration of movement, function and impairment through manual treatment, movement and exercise-based techniques.
A thorough assessment can help ascertain the causes of your injury and guide an effective treatment plan.
Alice uses a variety of techniques to treat different issues: massage, joint mobilisation, manipulations, acupuncture and dry needling, as well as movement pattern re-training and postural correction through exercise, rehab and pilates.
Pilates, Strength training and Rehab
As a trained clinical Pilates instructor, Alice uses the core principles of Pilates plus those of strength and conditioning in her treatment plans, in order to achieve effective results for injury rehabilitation and prevention.
She also offers one to one clinical sessions for people recovering from lower back and neck injury, postural issues or those who want to work on building a stable core to help prevent future injuries.
Alice will complete a full movement assessment prior to starting any exercise sessions to ensure you are moving in a safe way and will not exacerbate symptoms.
Massage
Alice practises sport and remedial massage as part of her physiotherapy treatment. She uses a combination of deep tissue and myofascial release to facilitate tissue healing and aid recovery.
Physiotherapy appointments can be more massage focussed upon request, for those looking for relief of tight and aching muscles after sporting events or hours sitting at a desk. Regular massage can help to prevent injury and improve wellbeing.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture and dry needling can help to alleviate muscle tightness, relax soft tissue, relieve pain and facilitate muscle activation. Traditionally needles are used along meridian lines to enable the ‘Qi’ - or flow of energy - around the body. Acupuncture is steadily getting the recognition in western medicine that it deserves, and is a useful method to treat many conditions.
Alice uses needling techniques as an additional therapy during some of her treatment sessions. There is a separate screening process required before completing any needling techniques.
